TIPS  FOR  TAKING  CHECK  RIDES
Before you go on a check ride it is always nice to know what pet peeves the designated
examiner has, but this does not mean that your flight training should be focused on what the
examiner tends to do on a check ride. When you are ready to take a check ride you should be
able to comply with and execute everything that is in the Practical Test Standards (PTS)
regardless of who the examiner is. When you are able to do this then you will feel far more
comfortable taking the check ride.
TIP:  Know the Practical Test Standards (PTS) for your check ride by heart. Really the key for
passing a check ride is being over prepared in your knowledge ( the oral portion of the check
ride) and confident in your flying the airplane within the PTS standards. If  these two things are
taken care of, the only way to not pass is to make a mistake, which can happen to anyone.
TIP:  How not to make a mistake:  The best insurance you can invest in to reduce your ability
to making a mistake on a check ride is to receive consistent standardized instruction from day
one.  If you are trained in a standardized fashion from day one, your chances of making a
mistake are very small.
TIP: Many people have a fear of tests...when they become nervous they make mistakes.  A
good way to overcome this is to practice check rides with other CFI's prior to your check ride.
